Flapjack Records is hungrily munching on:

FJBITE02:
"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2 - Mark & Stevens"

A. Freak Emotion
B. Freak Emotion (Sonny Fodera Remix)

Flapjack Records is proud to present the 2nd release in a new off shoot collection of 7" single vinyl pressings entitled "Bite Sized Beats".....yep that's right, the tiny little records that used to have big holes in the middle and played at 45 rpm, that's what these releases will be pressed on. Only these records will have the standard sized pin hole and have a full 6 to 7 minute house track on each side that plays at 33 rpm. But aren't 7" records low in volume you may ask? Truthfully they are lower in volume than 12" pressings, but ironically are mastered at a higher volume than digital releases and sound super warm and great! It's a big sound on a smaller format which is why the name "Bite Sized Beats" suits it well.

"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2"
has two smoking cuts from Flapjack veterans Mark & Stevens. The A side rocks their original single "Freak Emotion" to no end. I've got a freak emotion myself, and it's all wrapped around food and house music. There is something about that combination that winds me up and shoots me into space. Anyway, this track fits perfectly into that molded out spot on your plate, kinda like a steaming pile of mashed potatoes topped with luscious gravy. Savory and delicious beats just slathered all over the dance floor. Making me drool all over this write-up.

On the flip side, we have a the "Freak Emotion (Sonny Fodera Remix)" in our good mate from Australia churns out a buttery delicious remix a la Sonny's signature style. Rocking with solid Sonny beats, a walk down bass line, and hot silky vocal stabs, this remix rocks the spot like a cradle with a jet engine. This is the kind of remix that you just want to rub all over your mix and then let it marinate for a good long while.

So if you are looking for something that is bite sized, but with huge flavor, then you best try out our "Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2". I'm sure you will find that it is extremely satisfying and many levels. There are many more of this series to come, so keep some room in the fridge for some of this future fried funk.

Will Power
"The Willingness EP"

A. Papa's Groove
B. Papa's Groove (Littlemen's Buzz Vox Dub)
C. Monday
D. Monday (Corduroy Maverick's Ghetto Boy Remix)

It's getting colder outside, but just in time to warm yourself by the fire with the next batch of Flapjack Digital tunes. Straight out of the oven and onto your plate is a nice, deep, and warm EP from the UK's Will Power. He delivers us his seasonal cookie recipe "The Willingness EP" on a silver platter piled high with sugary delights. Best served warm right out of the oven, this EP will work great with any meal, snack, or dance floor experience. Be sure to share this one with a dance floor that is close to you.

The first bite is a tasty vocal cut called "Papa's Groove". The bass line is like sugar and butter melting in your mouth, and the vocal keeps your taste buds rolling. This one carries its weight and is sold by the case. Watch yourself cuz it's very easy to eat a whole case of this in one sitting. These beats are so fat, that you will definitely gain weight.

A slightly different assortment comes from our UK friends The Littlemen, with their baker's take "Papa's Groove (Littlemen's Buzz Vox Dub)". It is good to hear The Littlemen back in the bakery, tossing up thick and chunky beats underneath dubbed out vocals and sweet & savory bass lines. A baker's dozen of The Littlemen's brand adds up to 33-1/3.

Another bad creation by Will Power is his delectable delight called "Monday". This tune is another smooth and creamy snack that packs a wicked groove. The beautiful female vocal over the top of a beating house beat is like the cream cheese based frosting of your favorite holiday cookies. Sometimes you don't even want to eat the cookie, but just like all the frosting off and go for another.

Last in the stack is "Monday (Corduroy Maverick's Ghetto Boy Remix)". C-Mav's return to Flapjack to absolute kill this remix. Take your favorite baking recipe, then add the colonel's 11 herbs & spices....it may sound bizarre, but that's how they do it down in Kentucky, and it makes everything taste amazing. Make sure you grab a handful of this EP, sit yourself down in front of the fire, and get fat on some heavy delicious sweet beats. This EP is so hot you might not even need your winter coat.

This past Saturday, Dec. 11th, I made my first trip to Mexico and got to rock out down at Club Rewind in Mexico City along with the Fluye House Crew for their night called Nectar.  It was a great time with some really great people who are really down with house music, especially Flapjack Records.  They also still play vinyl down there which is just as refreshing as the fresh made tortillas and salsas that they put on the best tacos I have ever eaten in my life.  I would have no problem returning to Mexico City just to eat the tacos.  Big shouts and respect to the Fluye House Crew as well as Big Pack & Alysha Kid (as well as his family) for having me out there and taking such good care of me.  They are holding it down for underground house music out there.

Flapjack Records is about to embark on:

FJBITE01:
"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 1" - Wattie Green

A. Flip Mode
B. Love Break

Flapjack Records is proud to present the first release in a new off shoot collection of 7" single vinyl pressings entitled "Bite Sized Beats".....yep that's right, the tiny little records that used to have big holes in the middle and played at 45 rpm, that's what these releases will be pressed on. Only these records will have the standard sized pin hole and have a full 6 to 7 minute house track on each side that plays at 33 rpm. But aren't 7" records low in volume you may ask? It's a big sound on a smaller format which is why the name "Bite Sized Beats" suits it well.

"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 1"
has two smoking cuts from Flapjack veteran Wattie Green. The first cut "Flip Mode" is a great throwback to the jack of i:Cube's hit Disco Cubism. Utilizing the same slammin key sample, Wattie slices it up just right and puts in the smoker very early in the morning. After about 8 hours, it comes out and is seasoned to perfection with his solid beats and break wisdom resulting in one hell of a delicious dance floor bomb.

On the flip side, we have a "Love Break" which is a beautiful Mexican style dish loaded with Latin flavor. This cut is quite a departure from Wattie signature swinging style, but consistent and tantalizing to the tongue as all of his dishes are. Throwing us back to the days of the Latin house craze, Wattie bastes and bakes this acoustic bass and piano baby to perfection. One whiff of this jam will have your feet stomping into a fried chicken frenzy.

So if you are not looking for something too big, but with huge flavor, then you best try out "Bite Sized Beats Vol. 1". I'm sure you will find that it is extremely satisfying and many levels. There are many more of this series to come, so keep some room in the fridge for some of this future fried funk.

Oh yeah baby, I'm leaving the 18 degree snowy Chicago winter weather for beautiful sunny and 75 degree weather of Mexico City.  I cannot wait to feel the warmth of the sun and the boom of some serious beats up at Rewind.  For more information check this link:

And you too can learn to play the music on the turntables like cromagnon man did at the local jahooba jam fest.  Listen to the sounds of history and get learned on some vinyl.

Ironically, here is a digital link to the vinyl set in which this harvest moon dance occured :)
