Flapjack Records is golden browned to present:

FLAPD25:
Leonardus
"Golden Girl EP"

A. Between The Sheets
B. Golden Girl
C. The Big Throwdown
D. Calling The Shots

Daytime TV wouldn't be complete without your favorite cooking show.  Flapjack just so happens to sponsor a fabulous edition of daytime munchfunk with new jack Leondardus.  Famed for his heavy whipped productions full of fat and flavor, his new edition the "Golden Girl EP", leaves you nothing short of satisfied.

On the first segment of this cooking lesson, Leonardus shows us how to cook the funk chicken with the slam jamming beat melee of "Between The Sheets".  Filters, rhodes licks, and heavy bass make a solid foundation for this mouth watering creation set center stage on the counter of jack.  After one listen you will wander in to your own beat kitchen wondering if you can whip something so flavorful together.

The next segment is the namesake of the presentation called "Golden Girl".  This tune bring you back to the time when silly old women were looked at as heroes of the nightlife and dating scene.  This tune is so spot on with its horn stab groove that even gave Bea Arthur a boner.

Moving on we arrive at "The Big Throwdown", which grabs every sweet and savory ingredient and throws it together to form a thick wall of sample based sound.  The horns samples are mind altering and make the driest mouths salivate after a go.  Combine this with any household jam and you will find yourself in a tango with tastefulness.

To finish off the show, Leonardus brings us round about to his loopy roots with "Calling The Shots".  If you like a loop that flows like a neverending slurpy down the gullet of happiness, then this will quench your dance floor thirst.  Play this with extreme heat and you will surely get a fine reaction.  The studio audience happily applauds the "Golden Girl EP" from Leonardus as the credits role on this fine Flapjack release.  Be sure to tune in and grab it next time.

marathonweekends.pngFor a nice little read, check out the newest edition of my column written for 5 Magazine.  It is a bit of some ranting on the weird and wild experiences I have had in and around the music scene during my life.  Here is a teaser of this edition for you.  Click on the link to go to the full article.  I hope you dig it!

As a DJ and lover of the nightlife experience, nothing makes me feel more worthless than marathons.

I don't mean "party marathons" or "marathon weekends" or "marathon DJ sets" or anything like that. I mean actual jogging-for-26-miles-straight marathons.

I don't have anything against them as far as the good health and wellness aspect. They also usually support some positive cause. It isn't the 26 miles running that bother me either. It shouldn't, because I have never even participated in a marathon and don't plan on it anytime soon. Or ever.

It just so happens that when I hear the word "marathon" or even think about it, an overwhelming barfy feeling wells up inside of me. It's the kind of feeling you get after accidentally catching a glimpse of your parents having sex.

Flapjack Records is lit lick:

FLAP014:
Mark & Stevens
"Hello Nightlife EP"

A1. Prom Night
A2. Cold Blood & Smooth
B1. I Want Your Number
B2. Cymbalaws

Flapjack Records break through chefs Mark & Stevens are back with their follow up vinyl release to their debut "Discopetry", which was released in 2010. This new EP "Hello Nightlife" is an amazing topper to an already delicious and delectable cake. I can't say enough about how sugery sweet each and every facet of this EP is beginning with the stunning design down to every last lickery boom tiss of the beats. I lick my lips just thinking about playing any one of these cuts.

The first slice of this cake is called "Prom Night". If you like the Chicago jack sound, then this is a tune you will just eat right up and be heading back for fourths. Its got some funky key samples that are the sprinkles on any jamming set.

"Cold Blood & Smooth" has a really great summery taste to it. It's like a refreshing orange cake and cream soda under the cool shade of an oak tree....well that and some killer beats, bass, and groovy guitar licks. Also, there aren't any owls shitting on your head.

The third slice "I Want Your Number", tastes like your most favorite birthday cake you had when you were a kid. This slice really takes you back to the eighties with its upbeat guitar rhythms and undeniably catchy vocal. It's like the best butter cream frosting for your earholes.

The last piece of cake, "Cymbalaws", reminds me of a molten dark chocolate cake. The beautifully deep guitar textures take you into a dark and romantic desert bar in which you find yourself fist deep in a pile of chocolate cake. You try to impress passersby, but are shot down because of the mess all over your face. This track is just too tasty not to dive into, not unlike this entire EP. "Hello Nightlife" is a proof that no matter how fit you think you are, you just can't stay away from irresistibly sugery sweet beats.
