Flapjack Records has stoked and branded:

FLAPD21:
Little Man Big
"Four Score EP"

A. Duck Fat Lollipop
B. String Bean Hustle
C. Misty
D. Just For Me

Four score and seven years ago Flapjack had a groove, and from this groove came a groove of all grooves. Then digital recording and production took place somewhere in the UK and it was captured in 1's & 0's for all of us to listen to until we got so hungry for house that bacon was no longer flavorful. It just so happens that this recipe for roof shaking came straight to Flapjack Records from our UK bud Little Man Big with his "Four Score EP". For those of you who don't know, Little Man Big happens to be the taller half of the famed house duo Littlemen. His hunger for house music has transcended the duo and made its way to the Chicagoland area only to be spread all across the world like digital butter on fresh rolls made of thick house beats.

The EP pops out of the oven with an up n funky jack spattering called "Duck Fat Lollipop". This delicious bird of succulent beats stays fresh over a bed of funk samples and slammin' tasty beats. This is the kind of jam you throw into the oven when you know you will have a house packed with dinner guests ready to bite down on some riff rockin' bump. Be sure to preheat the crowd to 450 degrees.

The first side dish "String Bean Hustle", is a favorite at all the holidays. This dish just delivers with some bass that coats the roof of your mouth with a delicious buttery texture and leaves and aftertaste of pure get up and jack. There is no mistake that this dish is a favorite among all hustlers and those in the life. Keep a plate of this in your fridge for use with any meal.

"Misty" is a nice twist to the meal. This side dish is nice and deep and takes its time with some slower tempo sprinkled on top. This is great for those somber moods when you need some real flavor on the dance floor. You can only use this with the right meal, but most every meal is just. It's like sex a dinner plate.

The last bit left on the plate here is a spoonful of "Just For Me". This is one of those sentimental dishes that you just have to have or it feels like something is missing in your set. Using the same cut up and diced style of sampling as the rest of the accoutrements on the EP, this tune fills out a plate and dance floor quite perfectly. So if you are stuck ask yourself what should I be cooking up in my sets during this next gig? Just grab a handful of jams from the Little Man Big - "Four Score EP", and let your oven do the cooking.

FLAP013: Wattie Green - "Bottle Of Justice EP" OUT NOW DIGITALLY EXCLUSIVELY @ STOMPY!

Flapjack Records is getting surly sippin:

FLAP013:
Wattie Green
"Bottle Of Justice EP"

A1. Don't Stop (Original Mix)
A2. Don't Stop (Dub Mix)
B1. Knock John Booker
B2. That's Jazz

Flapjack Records' prodigal son Wattie Green returns with a devastatingly surly stomper of an EP entitled the "Bottle Of Justice EP". This marks Wattie Green's third vinyl release on Flapjack Records and certainly shines above the rest of his big swill releases. It is great to get drunk with an old friend again, so sit back and throw this sip of whiskey on the decks and enjoy some true southern comfort.

The "Bottle of Justice EP" opens with a floor filling romper entitled "Don't Stop". This tune is a sure fire classic put to the test of years of uninhibited drinking and still has the muster to work up a fuss in the dance hall. This tune will work on any dance floor anywhere from a big boot scoot n boogie out in the barn all the way to your grandpa's living room.

To accompany the lead track is the "Don't Stop (Dub Mix)", which is a play on the first one but with a little more emotion and a nice minor key groove for all you heart breakers. Put a little of this in the punch at the sock hop and you are sure to get to second base at least. If not, just keep playing the tune and maybe try washing your ass or something.

On the back of the bottle we have one of my favorite ingredients, "Knock John Booker". This is a seriously smooth jam complete with a firewater keys sample a la Wattie's signature style. The rug underneath the front of your gramophone will surely need a cleaning after the carnage your boogie will do from listening to this gem. This is literally all that the U.S. offered the French for the Louisiana Purchase, and I think we took a loss there.

To seal the deal is "That's Jazz", a swing jam per the schematics that made Wattie Green a house hold name. This swinger has all the grains for your brain including the old time piano, horns, and swing that put the moon in shine. So step right up and grab yourselves a copy of FLAP013: Wattie Green - "Bottle Of Justice EP".

So it's that time of year again when our house head friends from Latvia show the world that their DJing skills transcend way beyond the decks in challenges that require great strength, training, and bizarre coordination.  These games are great proof that the house music that we love so much spreads far across the world and is celebrated for its ingenuity and the good feeling that it brings.  Cheers to our Latvian friends for spreading the good time and making these great entertaining videos year after year :)

amenti053_beatport.jpgOur good friend Olivier Desmet over at Amenti Music just released a new mix compilation called:

"Destination: Tokyo"

This release just came out today on Beatport.  It was compiled and mixed by Olivier's dear friends Kai & Megumi from Solid Tokyo. Amenti is donating 100% of the proceeds from sales to the Red Cross to support relief efforts for those affected by the earthquake in Japan.

Any and all support for this compilation would directly benefit the cause for those who are suffering in Japan.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this info on to your facebook friends, twitter followers, and/or mailing list. I really hope we can get people from the house community to rally together and make a difference for some people in need. I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide to help us spread the good word.  Thank you so much for all your love and support over the years.  Now lets spread it where it is needed most!

FLAPD20: Kid Vibe - "Van-City Syrup EP" OUT NOW DIGITALLY!!!

Flapjack Records tapped and drained:

FLAPD20:
Kid Vibe
"Van-City Syrup EP"

A. Gangsta
B. Teddy
C. Hit That Switch
D. Falling In

The digital side of Flapjack Records is celebrating its 20th release! To kick off the celebration we have a super sticky and sweet release from Vancouver's emerging maple syrup conglomerate king, Kid Vibe. If you look on almost every bottle of decent maple syrup that is sold in the United States, you will find that it mostly comes from Canada, and most likely from Kid Vibe's tap. Well now Flapjack has bottled up a big tasty bucket of Kid Vibe's sticky syrup and digitized it nicely for all your earholes in the new "Van-City Syrup EP".

The EP opens up with a Grade A light maple mop up called "Gangsta". This sticky jam is a flavorful throw back to mid nineties RnB giants Bell Biv Devoe. If you pour this cut all over a tasty dance floor you are in for a real treat. Just watch as the beats just stick to the sweet bodies and dollup up the groove. This is a cut for mid morning hangover waffles and Flapjacks made with chocolate chips.

The bottle of beats is another mid nineties RnB throwback called "Teddy". A mid grade syrup made from finely aged maples from the outskirts of Vancouver. The beats are so thick in this jam, that by the time you hit the RnB break down, you'll probably have that sweet sticky skeet all up in your weave.

"Hit That Switch" is a nice and dark Grade B maple mop stopper. Just like the finest Grade B, this syrup is chock full of funk flavor. The beats, bass, and Eazy- E vox are just what a crowd needs to wake up on the dance floor.

To finish off breakfast is another nice dark n thick syrup straight from the depths of the Canadian maple reserve. "Falling In" is a little deeper in color than the other varieties, but strong with beats and full maple flavor this cut pours nicely all over your Flapjacks. Who would have known something so sweet was hiding inside the maple trees of Canada. Get a sweet taste of this hidden gem on Kid Vibe - "Van-City Syrup EP".

FJBITE02: Flapjack Records Presents - "Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2 - Mark & Stevens" OUT NOW DIGITALLY!!!

Flapjack Records is hungrily munching on:

FJBITE02:
"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2 - Mark & Stevens"

A. Freak Emotion
B. Freak Emotion (Sonny Fodera Remix)

Flapjack Records is proud to present the 2nd release in a new off shoot collection of 7" single vinyl pressings entitled "Bite Sized Beats".....yep that's right, the tiny little records that used to have big holes in the middle and played at 45 rpm, that's what these releases will be pressed on. Only these records will have the standard sized pin hole and have a full 6 to 7 minute house track on each side that plays at 33 rpm. But aren't 7" records low in volume you may ask? Truthfully they are lower in volume than 12" pressings, but ironically are mastered at a higher volume than digital releases and sound super warm and great! It's a big sound on a smaller format which is why the name "Bite Sized Beats" suits it well.

"Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2"
has two smoking cuts from Flapjack veterans Mark & Stevens. The A side rocks their original single "Freak Emotion" to no end. I've got a freak emotion myself, and it's all wrapped around food and house music. There is something about that combination that winds me up and shoots me into space. Anyway, this track fits perfectly into that molded out spot on your plate, kinda like a steaming pile of mashed potatoes topped with luscious gravy. Savory and delicious beats just slathered all over the dance floor. Making me drool all over this write-up.

On the flip side, we have a the "Freak Emotion (Sonny Fodera Remix)" in our good mate from Australia churns out a buttery delicious remix a la Sonny's signature style. Rocking with solid Sonny beats, a walk down bass line, and hot silky vocal stabs, this remix rocks the spot like a cradle with a jet engine. This is the kind of remix that you just want to rub all over your mix and then let it marinate for a good long while.

So if you are looking for something that is bite sized, but with huge flavor, then you best try out our "Bite Sized Beats Vol. 2". I'm sure you will find that it is extremely satisfying and many levels. There are many more of this series to come, so keep some room in the fridge for some of this future fried funk.

2011 WNUR Chicago Jack Summit from John Pappas on Vimeo.

So if you weren't at this shindig considering it was on a Monday night, it was freezing ass cold outside, and it was in Chicago and you live in another country.....well then today is your lucky day!!  You can check out this little video clip of the night.  All in all it was fun, but I had to work the next day so I played early and get the hell out of there ;)

The night was recording until someone stole Karl Almaria's iRiver recorder.  So if anyone has seen it or has it, please return it so we can post the recordings of the night.  That little recorder has recorded so many historic house music events in Chicago including almost every single Grizzled night.  So sad to here of its disappearance.  This would be a good case for that old Unsolved Mysteries show.
